One of the largest federal departments in Canada, responsible for government-wide procurement, real property, and asset management.
Engagement: JCG has provided BI consulting and architecture support since 2004, most recently leading the modernization of PSPC’s enterprise analytics environment.
Environment: 2,200+ users across 15 environments and 56+ Protected B-classified servers, spanning Cognos 8.1 → 12.0.3, Power BI Service, Oracle, SQL Server, and hybrid cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
Challenge
PSPC’s enterprise BI environment had grown complex after multiple version upgrades and expanding data sources.
Aging infrastructure (Windows Server 2012, Oracle 11g) and fragmented governance were creating performance bottlenecks and compliance risks.
Internal hiring freezes limited access to specialized BI and architecture expertise, threatening operational continuity and modernization goals.
